Meet Tonya
TONYA VANDER, LCSW
Licensed Professional Counselor
Founder, Compass Therapy and Consulting
A trauma-informed, relational space to heal, grow, and find your way back to you — supporting individuals and couples through grief, trauma, anxiety, and life's hardest transitions.
About Tonya
Tonya is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Compass Therapy and Consulting. Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed, relational approach, shaped by both her clinical training and her own life experience. As a nontraditional student who came into the field later in life, she understands how complex, layered, and nonlinear growth can be.
She created this practice to offer a space where people can feel both supported and challenged, where insight, healing, and meaningful change can happen at a pace that feels right for each client.
Tonya holds a deep understanding of the impact trauma and grief can have when life takes an unexpected turn. She creates secure, nurturing spaces where clients of all ages, starting from six years old and up, can be truly heard, supported, and embraced. Her ideal client is someone navigating anxiety, trauma, or self-doubt, who may feel stuck in old patterns or disconnected from themselves and is ready to move forward, rediscover their voice, and build a life that feels authentic.
Tonya also welcomes and affirms clients from the LGBTQ+ community, including bisexual, gay, lesbian, non-binary, queer, and transgender clients, as well as clients navigating single parenting, racial justice, and sex-worker-inclusive care.
